Just thinking

I'm just sitting here, making fun of people to myself and wondering if that makes me a bad person.
I would probably not say anythingto them, not because I'm chicken, but because I hardly see these people to begin with. It mostly comes from looking around through Facebook and MySpace adn blogs and what not, and chuckling to myself (usually) when there's not much else to do.

Most of what I say is because it's funny, though it can sound malicious, I don't really care about these people much to be malicious or not, so I wonder, does that still make it bad?

Summer has come and gone, I haven't really posted anything lately.. and let me tell you why.

1. For one, work got a little heavy,
2. I found other things to entertain me in the hour or less that I've had free lately (FARMVILLE)

5. I'm writing a book.

I know, I know what you're thinking, and yes; it seems like everyone and their mama is "writing a book." Well, my reason for doing it is that, as kid, and all the way up through High School, I liked to write. I was thinking about going to college for journalism at one point. But one thing led to another and my dreams got killed and I pretty much didn't pick up a pen again until earlier this year.

Occasionally I would have a friend ask me for help with something she was writing, but not much more than that. Then I started to read the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.
I ate up the first 5, but then as they went on, they got to be not so great.

Now I won't lie and say that they're a literary masterpiece. They're written in the style of the every-man's thoughts. The story was pretty good, but there were still parts that had me gritting my teeth, and in the later books; big problems with plot, etc.

So I mean no disrespect to Ms. Harris when I say this, but I read them and figured, I could do this just as good, if not better. Somethings that i had written earlier on in life(and since lost to time) were better. But her stories had a draw: Vampires.

Anyone who is even near a woman these days know that vampires are on the mind, and pretty much anything about them is profitable. So is "love" between them and human women and smut, and Harris' book had all of these components, though aimed at an older crowd.

So I've started my book, and I'm trying to find my niche, and I'm also doing a lot of reading.
Not to steal ideas, but pick up tips from different writer's style. To see what holds their stories together, so I can use it to keep mine from falling apart.

I'll try to update more, but we'll see how that goes.

Hate

The other day I was watching this video. And I was thinking about how people just believe what other people tell them. They don't really look at facts, they just accept or reject something based on what people who are like them lead them to believe.

Sometimes it's the way that they're raised, but it is always out of fear.
And it boggles my mind that they allow men like Bill O'Reilly on the air.
Why do they allow people like Bill O'Reilly to be on TV and insight hate like that? They say whatever your freedom of speech is protected by that amendment unless you're yelling "fire" in a theater. But that's essentially what he and people like him are doing on a much wider scale.

Why should hate speech get the same freedoms as simple informative speech? You can put his broadcast right up there with Klan rallies.

And it makes me so afraid and sad that he says this shit and you know there are people eating this up, taking it for truth when it's just wrong. Maybe the amendment should be updated to include shit that is inflammatory on a wide scale and erroneous to the exclusion.

But I suppose censure is a slippery slope, but people are abusing the "Freedom" granted here, but then again the government might get heavy handed with the censorship. But something should change. A house divided cannot stand, especially not one being taken down from the inside.

I'm not political analyst by any means, I'm just jotting down a thought that came to mind.
